Regional Production track
For portfolio VI, I chose to show my regional production track, which blended action with urban U.S. music elements. This piece was written in order to capture the cultural vibe and feeling found in action scenes while implementing the rhythmic and texture feel of contemporary urban music. My goal with this track was to make something that could work well within film, TV, or commercial industries, especially in high-energy sequences. I mainly focused on driving percussion, bold bass, and dynamic electronic instrumentation to give it a sense of power. The urban influence comes through in the use of 808s, rhythmic hi-hats, and layered synth. This piece has a very modern feel. I’m mostly proud of how this track builds tension and energy dynamically. The transitions are seamless, and the blend of electronic, and hip-hop elements create a unique sound. Rather than a traditional format, I decided to go for a rising action that peaks dynamically as it rises to the section with French horn. I also decided to mess around with different types of delay, side compression, and various other elements commonly seen in EDM. This track was also a surround mix and it has a cool space and depth around it. This track may also be cut up or stemmed down in order for use within different contexts. I enjoyed this project a lot and will likely continue work on it including adding real instruments.
