Ab Astra

Ab Astra is a song written by Zachary Daniels, and played by him on the guitar. The length of Ab Astra is 6 minutes and 10 seconds, this is due to the progressive nature of the song. The guitar I used to record this song was a Strandberg Boden Prog nx7, a seven string. This helped to add a little extra aggression to the song when needed. The impulse responses used were Tonemissions John Petrucci pack. This song was mixed by me, as well as mastered by me. The DAW used in this project was logic pro and ACE Studio. The lyrics were also written by Zachary, however, ACE Studio was integrated to perform the vocals.

 

My approach to this track was great. During my break right before this class started, I was playing a lot of guitar. I happened to come across some cool riffs and stuff during this time. The most challenging thing for me throughout this project was the drums, and figuring out how I could make them more aggressive. Fortunately, I was able to get this sorted out before presentation. I am pretty happy with the outcome of this track, however, in the near future I will likely change up some of the concert rhythms.
